We are an active non-profit student association established since 1956. Hong Kong Student Association (HKSA) operates to solely benefit its members.

We are enthusiastic and passionate about our role as a student body to promote a friendly and supportive relationship between the different Asian cultures and Australia. We organise a variety of joyful events to benefit the students studying a hectic university life.

We also have close connections with the local Asian newspaper, Queensland Asian Business Weekly, so to keep our members and the local community most updated with the happenings of UQHKSA, whether it be cultural, educational or social.

Are they all from Hong Kong ?

The answer is no. Not all our members are from Hong Kong, in fact our committee is made up of several different Asian cultured backgrounds. Even though it's called HKSA, we're actually quite multicultural and we really encourage people of other nationalities to join to learn about our culture. Just to show you how multicultural we are, we have members from Australia, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and the list goes on.

Established in 1956 The University of Queensland Hong Kong Students' Association (UQHKSA) celebrates this year its 51st anniversary. The association was founded to create a medium of communication for Hong Kong students studying abroad at the University of Queensland.

The club encourages students to meet new friends by building strong relationships through experiencing a different way of life as well as communicating in a different language. As time went, the club has been commercialized so as to bring the members more benefits and those spectacular events.

Through many years of hard work and practice, UQHKSA started out with only 30 members and in the blink of an eye, has today grown to become one of the largest international student associations in Brisbane, with more than 1200 members. This achievement certainly was not an easy one! With the presence of warmth and sincerity of previous committee members along with willpower, the UQHKSA committee and local communities are continually holding an increasing number of events, with the principal being the International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship.

For the success of this association, aside from the great support of UQ Union and many, many wonderful sponsors and supporters, countless appreciation goes towards the smooth-talking PR Officers at UQHKSA! In every effort they have, it is spent looking for opportunities on behalf of our members, thus making it a sensible choice to join the UQHKSA family!
